Anise is native to eastern Mediterranean and Southwest Asia regions. When grown for its true leaf, it has a beautiful liquorice flavour. Anise is a delicate and relatively easy variety to grow but can suffer easily from overwatering. The anise true leaf is a beautiful serrated leaf and looks and tastes amazing as a garnish.
Fun fact: Anise will have a similar reaction in some dogs as catnip does with cats!
Latin name: Pimpinella anisum
