Nasturtium is normally seen in bright colourful garden borders or trailing from hanging baskets but it makes a delicious and eye catching microgreen. When grown as a microgreen we are only after there round saucer like leaves rather than the flowers.  Nasturtium leaves have a beautiful spicy flavour and look absolutely stunning on a plate. 

Latin name: Tropaeolum nanum 

Health Benefits:  High in vitamin C and immune boosting properties. Used as a remedy for sore throats, colds as well as bacterial and fungal infections. 


Microgreen Instructions:
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Soak: 4 - 6 hours
  • Germination time: 5 - 7 days
  • Harvest from: 14 - 21 days
  • Flavour/texture: Peppery, spicy taste similar to mustard.


1. Soak you seeds and sow your seeds directly on your prepared growing surface, press the seeds into the soil lightly or top with a thin layer of coir or soil.
2. Place a tray directly on the seeds and weigh down to ensure good contact with the growing medium and to help the roots dig deep.
3. Keep weighed until the seedlings have germinated and are beginning to push against the weight.
4. Place in blackout when the seedlings are about 2cm tall, blackout for 24 hours once you remove the weight
5. Place in a sunny location or under grow lights to green up your microgreens.
6. Harvest as soon as each seedling has produced at least 2 sets of leaves.
