This Japanese bunching onion is one of our favourite varieties of vegetable to grow. It's a highly versatile and vigorous grower that's quick to mature and ideally suited to grow bags, containers as well as outdoors in soil.
Sow indoors year round and harvest at any stage of growth. Continual sowing is not required as you can harvest these onions when pencil thin or as thick as a carrot and they won't lose their flavour. You can also snip off the green leaves and let the rest grow on giving you a near continuous supply of fresh, delicious onion greens.
Long white tender stems can be obtained by applying the earthing-up method during growth.
